PGA TOUR WIVES, PROS TO SHAKE, RATTLE AND BOWL FOR CHARITY

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - The PGA TOUR Wives Association has made their annual fundraising event a fixture of Honda Classic week. But this year the first ladies of golf are trading in their golf clubs and cleats for bowling balls and shoes and letting their husbands be active participants in their event rather than just caddies.

The wives and their husbands will form teams in a friendly competition to raise money for The Honda Classic's host organization, Children's Healthcare Charity, Inc., as well as various causes supported by the PGA TOUR Wives Association. The event, named "Shake, Rattle and Bowl," will be held Tuesday March 2 from 3-5 p.m. at Jupiter Lanes.

The PGA TOUR Wives raised almost $200,000 the past two years at The Honda Classic by playing a nine-hole golf tournament where the husbands caddied for their wives. The Classic's share of this year's proceeds, again 50% of the net event revenue, will be part of the tournament's overall charitable contribution to various Palm Beach County children's charities.

"After playing golf the past two years, we think the wives and their husbands will enjoy getting away from the course and doing something different," said Kenneth R. Kennerly, Executive Director of The Honda Classic. "We are thrilled that the PGA TOUR wives are continuing their relationship with The Honda Classic."

As the world's greatest players go to work each week, the PGA TOUR Wives Association makes a significant impact on the communities they visit. Their objective: To provide support for needy children and their families through a variety of volunteer and fundraising activities conducted during TOUR events. Whether it's working side-by-side with Habitat For Humanity building houses in New Orleans, hosting a Taste of the Tour fundraiser in Las Vegas, drawing attention to the Greater Boston Food Bank by sorting more than 6,500 pounds of food to those in need or playing golf and going bowling in Palm Beach County, the wives commitment to giving back leaves an impression long after tournaments are over.
