HONDA, FIRST TEE OF THE PALM BEACHES TEAM FOR DAY AFTER EVENT

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - The Honda Classic will team with the First Tee of The Palm Beaches to give golfers the opportunity to play PGA National Resort & Spa's Champion Course under Sunday PGA TOUR Tournament conditions while raising money for charity.

That chance to test skills within the tournament set-up will come Monday March 8, the day after the final round of The Honda, when the tournament turns the course over to The First Tee of the Palm Beaches program for a fun event beginning at 8:30 a.m.

For an entry fee of $500 (includes Champions Club tournament ticket) or $350 (includes Bear Trap tournament ticket), golfers can play the same setup as the pros play down the stretch on Sunday in a two-man best ball competition. Prizes will be awarded in both Gross and Net Divisions and the entry fee includes green fees, cart, practice balls, continental breakfast, awards luncheon, gift bag and special reduced fee Honda Classic tournament hospitality. All proceeds will go toward The First Tee of The Palm Beaches. For more information or to sign up to play, call Craig Watson at 561-262-5963 or visit www.thefirstteepalmbeaches.org.

"This event allows golfers in the community to enjoy a unique experience as The Honda Classic supports the efforts of The First Tee of the Palm Beaches," said Honda Classic Executive Director Kenneth R. Kennerly.
Through its network of more than 200 community-based Chapters and 700 program locations, as well as a presence in more than 2,600 elementary schools, The First Tee has introduced golf and its values to more than 2.9 million participants and students in 48 states and four international locations.
The mission statement of The First Tee of The Palm Beaches is to impact the lives of young people, including those with special needs by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Its home facility is at the Michael B. Finnegan Learning Center in Dyer Park, which serves several children's developmental programs including The Boys and Girls Clubs of West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach, Urban Youth Impact, Palm Beach Gardens and Palm Beach Lakes High School ESE programs.
Executive Director and PGA Professional Craig Watson along with Program Director and PGA Certified Instructor Guy Ashley head a staff of instructors and volunteers with extensive experience and training for delivering an enjoyable, valuable and safe program. Student to instructor ratio is 6 to 1. Palm Beach County residents are encouraged to volunteer as Assistant Coaches and Administrative Assistants. Each student receives free equipment, cap and shirt at the beginning of the session. Group and private instruction is available at Dyer Park for children and adults on vacation in South Florida throughout the year. The organization recently also launched after-school programs at five Palm Beach County elementary schools -- Egret Lake Elementary, Lake Park Elementary, Northboro Elementary, North Palm Beach Elementary, and Seminole Trails Elementary.
"We feel very fortunate that The Honda Classic has chosen The First Tee of The Palm Beaches as a partner to impact the lives of children here in Palm Beach County," said Watson. "We're confident that the exposure we receive by association with The PGA Tour and The Honda Classic and in particular during the upcoming event week will help reach families who will enjoy and grow through The First Tee Life Skills Experience."
The 2010 edition of The Honda Classic will be played March 1-7 at PGA National Resort & Spa.

The tournament, Palm Beach County's largest sporting event, awarded more than $642,000 to area children's charities in 2009 to surpass the $16 million mark in charitable contributions during American Honda's 28-year tenure as title sponsor. American Honda is now the longest -standing sponsor on the PGA TOUR.

Individual daily tickets can be purchased for $15 (Tuesday and Wednesday), $30 (Thursday and Friday) or $40 (Saturday and Sunday). A Classic Value Pack good for the entire week is $95 and includes over $300 worth of added value coupons from area golf courses, restaurants and PGA National Resort & Spa.
